Matritech believes the right to privacy is one of a particular importance. This is why we have implemented this privacy policy, allowing the protection of your integrity and of your right to disclose or not your personal information.

The following policy aims to govern the collection and use of information 1) when accessing our website (http://www.matritech.qc.ca) and/or 2) you provide on a voluntary basis upon your participation to a service offered by Matritech, subject to any refusal that you could duly express to us with this regard.

3. Collection and processing of the information gathered by Matritech

a) Collection

No personal information concerning you is gathered upon your simple access or browsing on this website. However, it must be noted that as soon as you access Matritech website, some information is gathered automatically by our computer system. While none of this information allows Matritech to identify you personally, it includes information regarding your domain name as well as the IP address through which you access this website. Such information may be used by Matritech for statistical purposes, allowing it to namely evaluate and analyze the access frequency to its website and related customer base.

Your personal information is gathered only when and if you voluntarily provide them to Matritech, including namely in the course of your participation to any service offered by Matritech which requires you to provide such information, subject to any objection expressed on your part. In all cases where you voluntarily provide personal information to Matritech, it undertakes to collect, use and/or communicate it in accordance with this policy and applicable legislation.

All your personal information, when gathered in electronic form by Matritech in compliance with this policy, will be kept on Matritech server.

4. Purposes for which Matritech may use the personal information it duly gathers

a) Matritech survey, contest or promotion

Matritech may use personal information which it is provided on a voluntary basis through a message or following a given participation to a survey, contest or promotion. Personal information gathered for any of such purpose, will be namely used to communicate with you in the event you win. Contests and/or promotions offered by Matritech may be subject to additional specific regulations, which will be fully described in such conquest or promotion.

b) Spontaneous application

Matritech commits not to use personal information collected when submitting a spontaneous application (job application) for any purpose other than recruitment.

c) Other purposes

Matritech undertakes not to use any personal information it gathers in compliance with this policy or with any applicable legislation, to any other purposes unless we obtain your consent for that purpose or in certain exceptional circumstances, where Matritech believes in good faith that the law requires or allows it.

Matritech commits not to disclosure any of the personal information it gathers to third parties in compliance with this policy or with any applicable legislation, unless we obtain your consent for that purpose or in certain exceptional circumstances, where Matritech believes in good faith that the law requires or allows it.

6. Minor

The permission from a parent or a tutor is required for any person under the age of eighteen (18) years old (a "Minor") to participate in any activity organized by Matritech, namely any survey, contest or promotion. In the event that any such activity specifically targets a Minor, the permission of a parent or a tutor will be expressly required.

Matritech will not collect nor use any personal information relating to Minors without the consent of a parent or tutor.

a. Your right to access

Upon written request, subject to certain exceptions, Matritech will inform you of the existence, use and disclosure of your personal information and provide you with a copy within the time limits prescribed by law. You have the right to access and correct your personal information. Please send us any access requests using the contact information in the next section.

We try to respond to all legitimate requests within one (1) month. Occasionally, this may exceed one (1) month if your request is particularly complex or if you have made several requests. In such cases, we will notify you and keep you informed. We may charge you a reasonable fee if you require additional copies.

b. Your right to rectification

If the personal information we hold regarding you is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to have it corrected. If you have the right to rectification and we have shared your personal information with third parties, we will inform them of the rectification where possible and where this does not require a disproportionate effort. Upon request, if possible and legal, we will let you know to whom we have shared your personal information so that you can contact them directly.

c. Your right to be removed from the list

You have the right to control the distribution of your personal information. Accordingly, you may ask us to de-index (i.e., remove from search results) any hyperlink associated with your name that provides access to your personal information if the underlying dissemination of your data violates any law or court order or causes serious harm to your reputation or private life. It also includes your right to re-index (i.e., show in search results) any hyperlinks associated with your name when doing so would prevent the perpetuation of serious prejudice to your reputation or privacy. You may contact us for assistance modifying, updating, or deleting personal information previously provided to Matritech. Please note that we will process your request within a reasonable period.

d. Your rights regarding automated decision-making and profiling

You have the right to know if we use your personal information to make a decision based exclusively on the automated processing of this information. Upon request, you also have the right to know the categories of personal data used to make the decision, the reasons and the main factors that led to this decision. You have the right to correct the information used to make the decision if you notice any errors. Finally, you may submit observations supporting a request to review any automated decision made using your personal information.

e. Your right to request information about data processing

You may contact us for details about our data processing activities, including what personal information has been collected about you and how Matritech processes it. You may ask us to specify the categories of persons with access to your personal information at Matritech and the applicable retention period for that information.

f. Your right to withdraw your consent

If we rely on your consent (or express consent) as the legal basis for processing your personal information, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. However, this will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdrew your consent. If you withdraw your consent, we may be unable to provide you with certain products or services. We will advise you if this is the case when you withdraw your consent.

g. Your right to file a complaint with a personal information protection regulatory organization

You have the right to file a complaint at any time with the appropriate regulatory entity. In Canada, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Privacy Commissioner of your province of residence. However, we would like to address your concerns before contacting the appropriate privacy regulator. Please, contact us first.
